2.5 magnitude earthquake in Wells Gray Park

People around Wells Gray Provincial Park may have felt shaking under foot last evening.

A 2.5 magnitude earthquake registered on seismic readings about 100 kilometres northeast of 100 Mile House, according to Earthquakes Canada.

The national database registered the earthquake near Murtle Lake within Wells Gray Provincial Park around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 6.

It was one of 299 earthquakes in Canada and Alaska in the last month, and one of 133 in B.C.

The earthquake has not been reported to have been felt when it occurred.
