A cultural tradition to return to Kamloops this weekend

The 39th annual Kamloopa Powwow will take place this weekend.

KAMLOOPS - This weekend will be filled with drummers, dancers and storytelling as the 39th annual Kamloopa Pow Wow gets underway.

Hosted by the Kamloopa Pow Wow Society, this year's three-day event will begin on Friday, Aug. 3 and run until Sunday, Aug. 5. General admission is $10 for one day or $20 for the whole weekend, according to the event's Facebook page.

Some of the events included in this weekend's cultural celebration, drumming contests, princess pageants, jingle dancing, fancy feather and much more. Approximately 1,000 dancers will fill the Pow Wow grounds, according to Tourism Kamloops.

The event will take place at the Tk'emlups te Secwepemc Powwow Grounds located at the Special Events Facility along the Yellowhead Highway.
