KELOWNA – A convicted killer from Kelowna has pleaded guilty to gun charges after a police raid found him in possession of a 9mm handgun less than a year ago.

Daniel Mader, born 1983, served more than eight years in jail for helping to kill a drug dealer in 2005, and less than a year after being released from prison was arrested again when he used a stolen truck to ram a police car.

In early January of this year, RCMP executed a search warrant at a home on Hein Road where they found Mader with prohibited weapons. He and two women were arrested.

Last week, Mader entered guilty pleas to possessing a loaded, restricted firearm and possessing a firearm while prohibited from doing do.

He remains under a lifetime weapons ban and will be sentenced January 2, 2018.

Shannah Mccray, 30, is also charged with several gun charges and Rebecka Hill, 25, is charged with breach of bail and possession of a controlled substance. Neither Mccray nor Hill has entered a plea on the charges they face.
