KELOWNA - City council has agreed to increase parking fees at Kelowna International Airport effective Dec. 1.
At it's meeting today, Nov. 19, city council approved raising the cost of using a parking meter for 30 minutes to $2 from $1.75. An hour in the short-term parking lot will go up 25 cents to $2, and the daily rate in the long-term parking lot will go to $14 from $12.
Parking fees have not been increased since April 1, 2014, the city says.
It will also cost more for security passes to cover off an increase in the number of cards being lost, damaged or not returned. Those increases go into effect Jan. 1 and some will quadruple.
Terminated employees, for example, who don’t turn in their security passes will be charged $100 instead of $25. Employees who lose or damage cards will have fees doubled, going to $100 for the first offence, $200 for the second and $300 for the third.
