Driver lucky to avoid major injury in Salmon Arm vehicle collision

SALMON ARM – A 77-year-old man escaped with non-life threating injuries after a collision caused his truck to flip over in the Shuswap.

On Jan. 15 at approximately 3:40 p.m. an RCMP officer from another jurisdiction came across a vehicle collision on Highway 97B in the 2500 block.

A south bound Jeep was travelling through when a Ford pickup truck turned across southbound lanes causing the collision, according to Salmon Arm RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Scott West in a press release.

The Ford truck flipped onto its roof. The elderly man had to be cut from the wreckage of his vehicle and transported to Shuswap Lakes General Hospital.

The driver of the Jeep, a 26-year-old woman, suffered only minor injuries and went home after giving investigators a statement.

The collision remains under investigation by the RCMP.
