Economic development initiatives at Penticton city hall shift into high gear

Kelly Bowman is the City of Penticton's new economic development intern. She will be working alongside economic development officer Colleen Pennington until November 30, 2015.

PENTICTON - The City of Penticton’s Economic Development Office switched into high gear this week with the hiring of a economic development intern.

Kelly Bowman began work Monday, May 11, and will be working with economic development officer Colleen Pennington to attract new business while help existing ones to reach their full potential in the Penticton market.

Bowman has begun to create a profile of the city which will be used to attract entrepreneurial residents to the city, as well as to help existing businesses understand the local market. She is working with communications officer Simone Blais to produce marketing materials will be aimed at attracting fly in and fly out workers whose jobs provide them with a wide choice of cities in which they can live when not at work.

Bowman comes to Penticton as an undergrad with a double major in communications and social justice as well as three post graduate certificates in grant writing, impact evaluation, and community economic development. Bowman’s internship ends November 30.
