For the third year in a row, Olivia is the top girls name in the province, according to an annual list of the most popular baby names released by the Ministry of Health.
The name Liam claimed top spot for boys for the second year in a row.
For girls' names Olivia is followed by Emma and Charlotte, while Liam is followed by Noah, Jack, Benjamin, Theodore and Oliver, according to the Vital Statistics Agency’s preliminary figures from Jan. 1 to Dec. 15.
Last year, Olivia was followed by Liam, Oliver, Noah, Lucas, Emma, Theodore, Benjamin, Ethan and Charlotte.
Only names that occur five or more times are listed.
From Jan. 1 to Dec. 15, 40,333 babies were born in B.C.
Last year, 42,413 babies were born in B.C.
