Instead of keeping the $1,425 he won at Progressive Rubber Industries Inc. staff Christmas Party, Kamloops man KC Lund donated it to helping those experiencing homelessness.

Then, Progressive Rubber Industries Inc. matched the donation, bringing the total to $2,850, according to a Facebook post by The Mustard Seed, a non profit group providing outreach and poverty relief services in Kamloops.

“We made a donation earlier in the year of about 30 pounds of cooked pork that was leftover from a company lunch. While there, I saw how many people were using the services at The Mustard Seed and thought it was a cause we wanted to get behind,”  Jeff Winger, vice president of manufacturing at PRI.

“I also worked one summer feeding the hungry in uptown Chicago, so it is close to my heart.

Winger said it may only take one event in life and "then there you are in line at a soup kitchen."

“Share your blessings," he said. "The only true way to show you are thankful for where you are in life is to give back.”
