A Kelowna RCMP sergeant has been recognized by a local non-profit group in its efforts to stop impaired driving.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving Central Okanagan has awarded Sgt. Mark Booth with an appreciation award for his years of dedication and support to the group, according to a media release issued today, June 4.
Sgt. Booth was the non-commissioned officer in charge of the Kelowna Municipal Traffic Section. He recently transferred to the Central Okanagan BC Highway Patrol.
While leading the section his officers apprehended numerous impaired drivers producing some of the highest results in BC, MADD said.
“Mark has been a tremendous help to the community and our chapter by bringing awareness to our cause,” MADD’s Bill Hetland said in the release. “Mark’s assistance and expertise helps in our bigger goal to see more mandatory alcohol screening in the province that will help keep impaired drivers off the roads, water and backcountry.”
