An accused in Kamloops court today in connection with a Shuswap stabbing had the charges against him stayed when a witness didn't show up.

Alexander Boucher, 37, was facing a trial today, Aug. 30, on charges of attempted murder, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and robbery.

The Crown prosecutor attempted to reach a key witness ahead of the trial and the court waited an additional 30 minutes for the witness to arrive.

He did not arrive in time for court to proceed so the prosecutor directed a stay of proceedings, which allowed Boucher to be released.

Boucher was arrested on Sept. 18, 2020. He was one of three men facing charges related to the alleged stabbing at a Shuswap area car wash, which occurred Aug. 16, 2020.
