Man runs from collision on Trans Canada Highway in Shuswap

SALMON ARM - A Langley man is facing charges after fleeing the scene of a violent collision on the Trans Canada Highway north of Salmon Arm

RCMP spokesperson Staff Sgt. Scott West said in a press release their prelimnary investigation indicates the 44-year-old man tried to turn east onto the highway from Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road at about 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14.

A 34-year-old woman from Kamloops, driving west on the Trans Canada, collided with the man, heavily damaging both vehicles.

West said the woman was injured as a result of the airbag and seat belt in her vehicle. No information was given about her condition.

The man fled the scene but was located some time after the crash and given a ticket for failing to reamin at the scene of a collision.

Both vehicles were towed and the highway was closed for a short time, West said.
