New name, new rules: Vernon waterslides set to reopen

The Vernon waterslides are set to reopen this weekend with a brand new name, and with a host of new pandemic procedures.

Vernon's Atlantis Waterslides, now under new ownership and renamed Splashdown Vernon, is opening its doors Saturday, July 18 and says it'll be open for the season "rain or shine" until Sept. 6.

The popular waterpark, which was purchased in 2019 by Cultus Lake owner Chris Steunenberg, is opening with a drastically reduced capacity and a whole bunch of pandemic era rules and regulations.

The waterslides are limiting visitors to four-hour sessions and running two sessions per day. Splashdown Vernon's website says guests can choose either a 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. session or a 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. slot. There's no reservations and clients are asked to arrive early, and will be allowed to enter the slides 30 minutes before opening time.

Tickets are now a flat rate of $25 per person and are the same price for everyone regardless of age. However, children under 36 inches tall are free with a paid adult.

Along with the difference in opening hours, guests are asked to do a COVID-19 health check before they come and arrive in no more than a group of six. Guests are also required to shower at home and arrive wearing their swimwear.

The waterpark says the ice cream shop will be open, but the concession stand will be limited to snacks.
