The conditions should be just right this weekend in the Okanagan and Kamloops to view July's full moon.

Known as the Buck or Thunder Moon, among other names, the full moon will reach peak illumination at 3:17 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, appearing full the night before and after, according to NASA.

The full moon in June is named the Buck Moon by the Algonquin tribes of the northeastern United States as early summer is the time when new antlers emerge on buck deer, or Thunder Moon due to summer thunderstorms.

The overnight forecast for Kamloops predicts clear skies for Saturday night with cloudy periods the following two nights, while the Okanagan is expected have clear skies throughout the weekend.

For best viewing conditions, find a comfortable place away form light pollution where there is a clear view of the sky, and look to the southeast.
