Plan on getting a safe ride home this New Years

KAMLOOPS - Extra enforcement units will be on the roads this New Years Eve and Mounties are hoping locals will ensure they have a safe ride home if they plan to drink.

Along with added officers, the detachment plans to set up various roadblocks throughout the city in hopes it keeps impaired drivers off the road.

"Our message is to make sure that you and your friends make appropriate choices, especially in regards to getting home safely,” Cpl. Cheryl Bush, a spokesperson for Kamloops RCMP says in a release. "Please ensure you look after the friends and family who you are celebrating with to reduce the risk of tragedies on this New Year’s Eve."

If you’re not the designated driver for New Years, plan to find one or consider public transit.
