A family in Summerland is asking for any information about a collection of missing fire opals after they were stolen from their property earlier this spring.

RCMP responded to a break and enter on Harding Street in Summerland on April 26, according to an RCMP media release. The home was ransacked and numerous items were stolen including a collection of rare fire opals ranging in size and colour.

“Returning from a holiday to find your home has been vandalized and important possession’s stolen can be heart-breaking,” Penticton media relations officer Const. Kelly Brett said in the release. “The family in this particular situation is asking for public assistance in keeping their eyes out for any of the fire opal stones pictured above, being possessed or sold in the Okanagan area."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Sinnett with Summerland RCMP by calling 250-494-7416 and referencing file 2023-844.
