A forensic artist has worked with the victim of an attempted sexual assault on a trail in a Kelowna park earlier this month, and RCMP have now released an image of the suspect.

An unknown male tried to sexually assault an adult female who was walking along a trail in Mission Creek Regional Park on Springfield Road at around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, June 9.

Kelowna media relations officer Sgt. Laura Pollock acknowledged the sketch is being released 10 days after the incident.

“Our vulnerable persons unit uses a trauma-informed approach to these types of investigations and they take time to thoroughly develop, with the consultation of the forensic sketch artist,” she said. “We just obtained this sketch recently in order to be able to put that out to the public now for assistance.”

RCMP describe the suspect as a male, approximately 50 to 60 years old with short grey hair. He was wearing a grey or white long sleeve jacket with red colouring on the shoulders.

Anyone who can identify the man is asked to call the RCMP tip line at 250-470-6236 and reference file number 2024-31438. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police are also asking for video surveillance or dash cam footage from the area between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., June 9.
