Kelowna police are looking for a man who tried to sexually assault a woman in a park last night.

RCMP received a report from a woman who said a man attacked her and tried to sexually assault her in Mission Creek Regional Park around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, June 9, according to a press release from police.

The victim said she was walking alone on the trail between Leckie Road and Durnin Road when an unknown man grabbed her and attempted to sexually assault her. She managed to free herself, run away, and call police.

The attacker is described as a Caucasian man between 50 and 60 years old. He had short grey hair and was wearing a grey or white long sleeved jacket with red shoulders.

“Officers conducted an extensive search of the area and are continuing this investigation,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier said in the release. “The public can expect to see a police presence in the area throughout the day and evening.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at  250-762-3300 and reference police file number 2024-31438.
