THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - Snow falling on high levels of the Coquihalla Highway is creating hazardous driving conditions.

After responding to multiple crashes in the region, police are asking motorists to use caution and slow down for road conditions, Cpl. Cheryl Bush says in a media release.

Police remind travellers they must equip vehicles with winter tires if driving on mountain pass roads. Winter tire and chain regulations went into effect on Oct. 1.

Emergency personnel are on the job and motorists are advised to use extreme caution when approaching emergency vehicles.

High elevations on the Coquihalla, BC Highway 5, are already seeing winter road conditions.
