A retired fisherman from Richmond has won the largest lottery prize in B.C. history.

A Lower Mainland man, who has been retired for 20 years, has won a $60 million Lotto Max jackpot — the largest in B.C. lottery prize history
Joseph Katalinic says he plans to “live like a king” after the winning the record-breaking haul, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation release.
Katalinic’s quick pick ticket matched all seven numbers on the July 26 draw.
“I scanned the ticket at the Seafair Centre where I purchased the ticket. I thought to myself that it can’t be true,” he says in the release. “I was so excited, I had to go to two other locations to scan my ticket again to make sure it was real.”
Katalinic says the first person he told was his daughter who told his son-in-law and then his youngest daughter.
“There was a lot of hugging and kissing, and a lot of emotions,” he says.
The former commercial fisherman has called Richmond home his whole life. He says his plans with the winnings is to take some family trips to Hawaii and visit the town in Europe where his parents were born.
