SALMON ARM - Police in Salmon Arm cracked down on high risk driving in the city’s downtown yesterday, resulting in dozens of tickets and warnings.

RCMP say 39 tickets or warnings were issued for offences on along Highway 1 in the city centre.

"A number of tickets were written for unsafe speed, use of electronic devices, intersection offences as well as failing to wear seatbelts," Staff Sgt. Scott West says in a media release.

It turned out on of the drivers pulled over was prohibited from driving, while another driver had their vehicle taken off the road due to unsafe equipment.

“As we go forward the RCMP will continue enforcement efforts in this corridor with the support of our regional highway patrol unit as we strive to make our highways safer for all who use them,” West says.
