Snow will end in time for a clear and cold New Year's Eve in Kamloops

Today, Dec. 28, snow is expected in the Tournament Capital.

KAMLOOPS - Plan for a few days of snow before a sunny New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in Kamloops.

The forecast calls for five to 10 centimetres of snow today, Dec. 28. Environment Canada says temperatures will be steady near minus 9 Celsius today. Periods of snow are expected to end late this evening. Tonight should be cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries, bringing two to four cm of snow and a low of -11 C.

Tomorrow plan for cloudy skies with 30 per cent chance of flurries and snow beginning late in the afternoon. A high of -9 C is expected. At night, more snow is expected with the mercury falling to -13 C.

The weather office says periods of snow are expected in the Tournament Capital on Saturday with a high of -11 C.

Things clear up for New Year's Eve with sunny skies. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing around -10 C. To ring in the new year, it will be cold as temperatures are expected to fall to -14 C overnight.

A mix of sun and cloud with a high of -8 is forecast for New Year's Day.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are highs of -1 C and lows of -8 C.
