Suspicious bag leads to firearm arrest

RCMP

KAMLOOPS - One man is in custody and another expected to face charges after RCMP found a duffle bag with a loaded firearm inside.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush says RCMP noticed two males, one carrying a duffle bag, along the frontage road in the 1800 block of East Trans-Canada Highway round 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19. The bag appeared to have a firearm concealed in it.

When officers attempted to arrest the two males one fled on foot, leaving the bag behind. The loaded firearm was seized and a 23-year-old was taken into custody. The second male has been identified and police say they will be seeking charges against him.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the matter.
