VERNON - Police are recommending a combined 38 charges against two men who were arrested in a stolen truck and in possession of stolen IDs, credit cards and tools this week.

Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in a media release a 25-year old man faces 16 charges, while 22 charges are recommended against a 27-year-old man. The two men remain in police custody.

Noseworthy says police located a suspicious Ford F-150 parked on Hartnell Road on Nov. 15 at around 10:15 p.m. Police investigations revealed the truck was stolen from the Vernon area on Nov. 4, 2016.

The search turned up numerous items that had been stolen in multiple thefts from vehicles in the area. Police found stolen credit cards, IDs, wallets and tools.

"The stolen items were traced to ten thefts, the oldest dated back to Sept. 17, 2016. The thefts occurred across a large area, from Westside Road, Armstrong, Vernon and Coldstream," Noseworthy says in the release.

Charges include possession of property over $5,000, possession of identity documents, possession of credit card knowing it was obtained by crime and possession of property obtained by crime.

“Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP are again reminding the public not to leave valuables in their vehicles,” Noseworthy says.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding this matter to call the Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
