KAMLOOPS - Two hotel projects are moving their way through the hoops at City Hall at the same time.

Days are likely numbered for the Travelodge at 360 Columbia St. A six-storey hotel with commercial space has been proposed and is going to public hearing this spring.

No details have been released about the looks of the new hotel, and if the rezoning goes through the location would also be open the redevelopment as another type of business, like a restaurant or bank, according to a city report.

Meanwhile, the hotel proposed for 1529 Hugh Allan Dr. is moving forward. Originally proposed as five storeys with roughly 30 units, council approved a development permit today for a 37-unit, six-storey hotel to be built near Cascades casino in Aberdeen. Designs show a somewhat narrow building due to the geography of  the area.
