KELOWNA - While winter may be walloping Kelowna right now, there are still plenty of activities to lure you out of the warm comfort of home this weekend. So zip up your jackets, throw on your toques, and head outside for some fun.

The Living Things Festival has been dazzling audiences for the last few months with experimental live music and off-the-wall theatre.

The curtain falls on the festival this weekend as the event draws to a close. They're going out with "Patterns," a technology-inspired concert featuring 10 artists and musicians. A behind-the-scenes peek at the event will be open to the public at the Kelowna Art Gallery today, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m., while the show is on Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. in the Rotary Centre for the Arts.

Student tickets are $10 and general admission is $15. Tickets can be bought here.

Looking to venture out of the city for the weekend? Head up to the Telemark Nordic Club for the Canadian Western Championship from Feb. 8 to 10.

Over 400 skiers are expected to compete in distance and sprint cross-country races. According to general manager Mike Edwards, the clubs spent $15,000 to upgrade the trails to accommodate the races. Admission is free. Regular trails are also open for public use, although parking is expected to be tight.

For art lovers, the hot ticket on the weekend is the 17th annual Art on the Line fundraiser gala on Feb. 9. The event brings together the local arts community to celebrate students, faculty, and alumni from UBC.

There will be a raffle for roughly 145 pieces of art. Tickets cost $195 and the proceeds from the gala go back into the Visual Arts Course Union and local charity Cool Arts Society. The doors open at 6 p.m.

Show support for our home team when the Kelowna Rockets play against the Prince George Cougars at Prospera Place on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.

If you want to hit the dance floor this weekend, you're spoiled for choice. Level Nightclub and Doc Willoughby's Public House will be featuring DJs flipping records on Feb. 9, while The Blue Gator and O'Flannigan's Pub will offer live music from Noble Crew and The Feels, respectively, on Feb. 8.

For the cold-resistant among us, the Stuart Park outdoor skating rink is open Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (weather permitting).
