The scaffolding on the west side of the bridge is set to be removed starting this week.

KAMLOOPS – The major road construction projects impacting Kamloops traffic are into their final days. This is the last month for the Overlanders Bridge project and the pylons have been lifted off Columbia Street, with only minor repairs remaining.

Overlanders Bridge

Crews continue to work on the east side of the bridge while also removing westside scaffolding at night.

All southbound passenger vehicles traveling downtown continue to detour through the temporary bypass off the south west ramp. All southbound heavy trucks must detour through Mission Flats or travel up Summit Drive.

The webcam feed at the south end of the bridge may be down intermittently due to electrical work taking place in the area.

Columbia Street

The 5 Avenue intersection will temporarily flash red and operate like a four way stop from 6 p.m., today, Oct. 2 until Monday, Oct. 5 at 6 a.m. After this time it will be fully operational.

Motorists can expect periodic lane closures along Columbia Street as crews do final checks.

The 9 Gleneagles bus traveling from downtown to Aberdeen will continue to temporarily reroute on Battle Street until work on Columbia Street is complete.

Twelfth Street Reconstruction

Paving is tentatively scheduled to start Saturday, Oct. 3. Residents can expect full closures during paving with detours in effect.

Crews will start driveway and boulevard restoration work once paving is complete.

Aberdeen Drive

Paving is tentatively scheduled for the end of the week.

Work on the left turn bay at the intersection of Aberdeen and Van Horne Drives is tentatively scheduled to start next weekend.

Construction takes place Monday to Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with possible night work.

Dallas Drive

On Monday, Oct. 5, crews will be working on the water line at the intersection of Kokanee Way and Dallas Drive. Businesses on Kokanee Way will temporarily be without water while the work is being done. 

Crews will continue to install the new sanitary line on the north side of Dallas Drive, east of Kokanee Way. Motorists are advised that access may be temporarily limited.

Motorists can expect single lane, alternating traffic between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Lanes will reopen to two way traffic at night.
