RCMP are searching for family or friends of a deceased woman's ashes found in an abandoned tent in Kelowna.

Evelyn Robertson, 93, died on March 1, 2020, and was cremated. Her ashes were recently found in a bag in the abandoned tent, according to an RCMP media release.

"RCMP have followed numerous avenues in the attempt to find the living relatives of Evelyn. To date, police have been unable to locate any family members that would be able to provide her a proper resting place," the release read.

The ashes are currently being held by Kelowna RCMP as officers try to track down a relative or close friend.

Anyone who knows a friend or relative of Robertson is asked to contact police at 250-762-3300 and reference the file number 2024-20211.
